Welcome to Finger Lakes Running Company

Miles of singletrack, waterfalls, creek crossings, long rolling hills on paved and unpaved roads. Yummy restaurants. Local businesses. The vibrancy of a college town with strong athletic programs and a long-standing and engaged Finger Lakes Runners Club. These were elements that drew founder and owner Ian Golden back to Ithaca to open Finger Lakes Running Company in 2006. For over 15 years, Finger Lakes Running Company has sold some of the most technical, comfy, and, well, fun running gear available. More than that, though, the shop brought knowledge of running mechanics, injury awareness, community resources, referrals, and support into the mix.

We value everyone who walks in our door, from seasoned post-collegiate runners going after a marathon PR to those who don't really think of themselves as runners and are looking for a cozy shoe to grab some miles now and then. We love helping you find what you need. You might be in the market for second-shaving performance on offer from the latest in shoe technology. You might need equipment or professional referrals for injury remediation. You might want a shoe to make an 8-hour shift working on concrete floors a little more bearable. We do it all.

  • Yes, we provide expert gait analysis to help you find the perfect shoe for your running style. We’ll also occasionally employ the use of video analysis for treadmill running as well.

  • We are located at 700 Cascadilla St. Ithaca, NY near the Green Star Food Co-op, Purity Ice Cream, and the Waterfront Trail.

  • We offer a 30-day return policy on shoes to ensure it’s the right fit for you. If they’re returned in a ‘like-new’ condition, then a refund to the card you paid with is allowed. If they’re returned in a used condition, then we only allow store credit as a return option. The store credit can be used for product in-store or on product we order in for you, so you still have a lot of options! This policy helps keep us in business and prevents some customers from acting in bad faith.

  • Yes! Just select "In-Store Pickup" at checkout in our online store.

  • We offer a wide range of products that we all genuinely use every day for our runs or post-run recovery. Altra, Asics, Brooks, Hoka, New Balance, Salomon, Saucony, and Topo are the headliners, but check out our Store Tour page to see what else we have!

  • Yes! There is some street parking directly in front of the shop on the Cascadilla Street side, but we also recommend parking at Green Star Food Co-op or the Purity Ice Cream parking lot.
