Looking for more structure in your running? Unsure of how to move up in distance? Let us help you!

Our Syracuse store manager, Josh, is a former collegiate runner with a degree in Exercise Science and loves offering his input on training. His background mainly deals with cross country, track, and road racing, but he can adapt just about anything to work for anyone. He’s worked with friends of all skill levels, from Couch to 5k up to competitive half and full marathon plans; he’ll do it all and charge you next to nothing for it.

“I don’t have the free time for long accreditations yet or a massive client list to back up the training plans I write, but I’ve had success with giving feedback to friends to help them achieve their running goals. More than anything, I want coaching to feel like asking a friend for advice rather than hiring someone that adds to a sales figure. Running should be the most accessible sport in the world, and that’s what I’m trying to do with this informal coaching.”

Coaching FAQs

How personalized is it?: Entirely up to you! I’ve done day-by-day schedules for runners, and also assigned rough weekly minutes or miles for you to fill in how you see fit.

How much is it?: I really want people to enjoy the training before I even think about making money from it. Therefore, I think a $1 fee is a fair price. If you’re unsatisfied and want to move on, I’ll give you the $1 back, no hard feelings.

Can I run with a group?: I don’t have a large enough coaching group to coordinate a dedicated meet-up day yet, but I’m hoping to add it in as I get more interest. If you’re looking for general groups to hold you accountable, we host Friday morning and evening group runs every week (which are free to attend and sometimes include free snacks after). If you’re local, it can be a good time to swing by and fill me in on how the week of training went.

Other groups that are really active right now are Lake Effect Run Club, and Syracuse Run Club!
